My gratitude for answered prayer
My New Year’s resolution last year was to eat an apple a day. So that means I have just a few hours to eat 365 apples. One guy sent a note to friends on New Year’s Eve, “I have decided to put my past behind me. So if I owe you money, I’m sorry. I have moved on.”
So often a New Year’s resolution is something that goes in one year and comes out the other. That’s why I’m a fan of keeping it simple, of saying, “God, help me draw closer to you today. Help me bring joy to others.” I’m always amazed when God answers that prayer.
Laugh Again listeners and readers are such an encouragement.
Shelly in Ottawa, Canada writes, “Whenever I’m finding life difficult I tell my husband we have to listen to Laugh Again. It always helps. These few minutes each day bring a better perspective and remind us that the Lord desires us to live joyful lives. You don’t dodge the harsh realities of life, but from the midst of them show how applicable the Bible is. We pray for this ministry.” Thanks Shelly.
McKenzie is an ordained welder who goes to work a little discouraged each day. “I work with very rough guys,” he says. “Laugh Again comes on during the last part of my drive to work. So often it is just what I need to help me get out of my truck and face the day with joy and the peace of Christ.” Sherri, age 11, says, “Laugh Again helps me be more brave when I tell my friends about Jesus.”
Mike is a young dad who lives on the street. I met him at an inner city church. One of his few possessions is a tiny radio. Each day he tunes in Laugh Again. “I never thought I’d meet you,” he said, squeezing my hand way too hard. “Thank you, thank you.” There were tears in his eyes–and mine too. Not just from my aching hand, but out of gratitude that God is allowing this ministry to touch the lives of so many over the world.
And I’m thankful to you for reading this blog. May God give you a fantastic new year. Remember, God is with you, my friend.
It looks like I have space for one more New Year’s resolution: I think I will stop eating chocolate bars so that I’ll have more room for cookies.
